A few residents have been heard to say that their broadband seems to slow down a lot in the evenings and at weekends so we thought we should do a survey and let everyone see the results so that we can possibly improve the situation.
If you wish to participate, perhaps you are suffering from a slow connection, read on.
Firstly, would you please, while being sure no other software on your computer, such as Outlook Express, is using the internet, run the speedtest at www.speedtest.net (The one we were using at www.kbps.co.uk appears to be misreading) this will open in a new browser window or tab.
You should see a black background and map. Please click on "Test Using
Recommended Server" in the box towards the top.
When
the test has finished running, you will be taken to a second screen showing
the results. on the left of the screen will be a panel "your
speed test result." please use the number from the left hand
side of this panel as your download throughput.
Please enter the Download throughput in the form below. As you can see. In this test the Download throughput was 140 Kbps (0.14 Mbps), not a lot if you think you are on a 6 or 8 Mbps connection. The upload speed is nearly always the same as this example at around 0.39Mbps.
